Brief History

What is reversi ?
Reversi or othello is an abstract strategy game played by 2 people at a 8 column and 8 rows board with a set of discs that has two different colour at their side (usually dark colour side and bright colour side). each of these colour is played by a player.




Abstract strategy game?
An abstract strategy game is a game which minimalize the luck factor without any specific theme. This kind of game often point as a card game or a board game without any hidden information or use any factor that really rely on luck such as dice rolls or card shuffle and usually the player is take their turn alternately.

The origin of reversi?
Reversi invented by a japanese people named Goro Hasegawa bersama with help of James R Becker at 1971 inspired by a chinese game called GO with the name Othello. Hasegawa wants a game that rich in strategy but still can be played by a casual players. Becker tag this othello gameplay with “a minutes to learn, a lifetime to master”, that means easy to play but very hard to master. Reversi then released to public by Tsukada Original Co. in 1973 who at Becker's suggestion organized  Japanese Othello Association.
